With an overwhelming response that included entries from 70 countries, it is my pleasure to congratulate the 2011 Project Earth World Environment Day Winners! The overall Global Winner, International School Brunei, deserves special recognition for their Eco-week project and the school’s overall commitment to environmental education.
Thanks to the individual actions of students and teachers, their comprehensive campaigns to educate, and resolve to continue their efforts over the long-term, the environment we all share is on course for positive changes well into the 21st century. The scope and magnitude of projects submitted for the 2011 World Environment Day contest is surely a sign of hope for our world. From projects that help preserve rainforest biodiversity to those that clean up local beaches and other natural areas, invest time and resources for recycling, and make environmental literacy a priority for our youth, I am encouraged by the progress thus far achieved and hopeful for a sustainable future.
This is beyond any contest. We received many very good entries and many great entries. Each of these actions has made our Earth a little better place. We will continue to build Project Earth and we hope that you will continue with us.
Together, we can make a difference.
