Our Shared Agenda for Action (2011)
by Rebekah A. Williams
The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo is a public charity holding more than 700 different charitable funds, large and small, established by individuals, families, nonprofit agencies and businesses to benefit Western New York. Since its founding in 1919, the CFGB has served the needs of this community and the wishes of its donors through personalized service, financial stewardship, local expertise, and community leadership.
In 2008, CFGB initiated a collaborative effort called the WNY Environmental Alliance (WNYEA) to develop a regional agenda for the environment. Three large public Congresses were convened, attracting more than 300 attendees representing 150 environmental organizations, as well as individuals interested in working together to improve WNY’s environment.
Our Shared Agenda for Action, which was launched in the summer of 2009, has three primary objectives:
1. Preservation and Restoration of the Region’s Natural Assets through Collaborative Projects;
2. Mobilizing the Public and Policymakers to Improve the Environment; and
3. Strengthening Environmental Organizations.
