The Capri Sun ‘upcycling’ program is yet another recycling effort that our art teacher, Mrs. Deborah Tonsoline, has been in charge of. Upcycling is when you take something that is usually thrown away and turn it into something people can use. Upcycling means less trash ends up in landfills, which is GREAT for our planet! Terracycle is the company that recycles the Capri Sun pouches into notebooks, tote bags, purses, etc.  Terracycle makes environmentally safe cleaning and household products.  The money raised by our efforts goes to provide school supplies for a designated needy school. The students have been hard at work cutting off the tops of the pouches, rinsing them, and packaging them to be shipped out.

Whoa - I was JUST reading about this terracycle program and was going to post it when your project caught my eye! What a cool program! It seems like you can upcycle as an individual or an organization - what a great way to get involved! http://www.terracycle.net
