We are a not for profit, non-public school that promotes and addresses needs of students with autism. We serve the needs of their families as well. We are simultaneously trying to teach students ways to be mindful of themselves, others and the environment :) At PAC, we are striving to bring success to our students. In such regards, we practice conservation along with methods of the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) to benefit the environment! As a school we conserve electricity, water and waste. We save electricity by using natural light when necessary and unplugging certain electronics when they are not needed. For water, we conserve by using "quick wash" settings on our dishwasher and only run it when it is full. In order to reduce waste, students and staff reuse appropriate materials (e.g., eat on glass/plastic plates or use or "PAC" grocery bags, etc.) and minimize paper waste (e.g., use cloth towels instead of paper, etc.) as much as possible. In addition to these methods, we have started a "Bottle & Can" recycling program at our school where 100% of the earnings return back to us. As this is only one improvement, we are also in the process of adopting a battery recycling program that allows us to recycle various batteries and hand held electronics. We hope that with a well-rounded instruction to our students, supporters of PAC will be influenced and supportive of our efforts.
