Our goal was to promote recycling and energy savings via a public service announcement (PSA) that was posted on YouTube. We also contacted our local government to see if a public recycling trailer was available for our community. We entered the KY Green Team Online Film Festival and put our PSA on YouTube so it could be viewed worldwide. The top ten video hits/viewings from December 8, 2008 to March 15, 2009 went to the final round where celebrities with KY roots judged and choose a winner. Our video was taped by Hardin County Educational and Community Television (HCEC TV). WHMS Green Club developed and casted the PSA script. Gina Ryan from the HCEC TV production crew filmed the PSA. The PSA was then edited by the Green Club and HCEC TV. Results: The PSA was seen by approximately 60,000 viewers over a five county area. The PSA was shown by three cable companies (Comcast, Brandenburg Telecom, and Insight). Our PSA was voted top ten in the state and has moved on to the finals of the first KY Green Team Film Festival. A recycling trailer was provided next to our school for public use by our local government.
